Add some personality to get the job! And send us some beer.
According to the latest research from ICM Research, young jobseekers need to add a bit more "personality" to their applications in order to secure employment. Worryingly, their survey suggested that 33% admit good candidates sometimes miss out on interviews because their application is not exciting enough.
Their survey of over 900 recruiting managers also suggested that:
* 19% of hiring managers said that CVs were similar
* 38% want young people to give greater prominence to their personal achievements
* Apparently the personality traits they are looking for are; a strong work ethic (33%), commitment (31%), communication skills (29%) and team working skills (28%)
* Over a third (37%) said young people are not aware of the importance employers place on soft skills, with 26% saying soft skills should be listed ahead qualifications
They didn't comment on the chap in Canada who recently secured three job offers by putting his CV onto a four pack of beer. He certainly showed some personality!
