Test Engineer Automation
Salary: £35K - £50K per annum
Test Engineer required for an award-winning software company in the centre of Edinburgh.
Dedicated to being open and transparent to employees and customers, this organisation promotes change from within. That might sound like a nice phrase or buzzword, but with these guys it's true - you're invited to quarterly planning session to understand where and why objectives are coming from.
They are one of the most popular in their sector, which is largely due to their focus on creating the best user experience, and offering support for businesses to actively be an efficient platform that improve customer's days. It works, as they are considered an 'exceptional' company.
Employees are an equally important focus of the company, and creating an enjoyable, challenging atmosphere is a big part of that. As is work-life balance, so they stick to a 35-hour working week.
There are Software Testers onsite, but based within a specific team, you will be the only Tester and will need to be responsible for all the testing carried out. You will own everything - carrying out all testing (both manual and automation), as well as creating and implementing a testing strategy.
The company promote a test-driven development environment, and you'll be a key role in ensuring this continues, and truly part of an integrated, continuous development lifecycle.
Day to day, you'll be creating automation tests from scratch, as well ideally being able to maintain an automation framework as needed. As part of that, you'll have good understanding language relevant to automated testing. You'll also be expected to uphold good testing practices, and be a bit outside the box - exploring the software in unexpected ways to discover potential risk.
You'll need to demonstrate that you can manage everything by yourself. Although there are Senior Test Engineers in the company to support you, you need to be capable of confidently working autonomously.
Personality wise, you will be proactive and passionate - not someone who will just test the basics and move on.
You'll also be passionate about self-learning. The company are firm believers that improving their employees skills and encouraging them to explore their passion around the area means they'll be happier, and more skilled, which in turn makes the company stronger.
You'll have most of the following skills/experience:
** Hands on automation testing experience, ideally with Selenium WebDriver
** API testing
** CI/CD environment
** Be confident working as a solo Tester
** Linux/Unix commands
