Senior QA Engineer
Salary: Contact Us
Senior QA Engineer required for a growing company based in Glasgow.
Your new company:
Working with most of the top universities across the world, your new company work on some genuinely interesting problems and following a recent merger are in need of someone to help set up a brand-new test function.
One half of the company have a test function in place, with established practices and modern tech, but the Glasgow operation does not - which is where you come in!
Your new role:
You'll be the first QA Engineer in the door - and have the autonomy and challenge of setting up the testing function from the ground up, with a particular focus on automation testing. This means that you will need to have experience creating and executing an automation test framework from scratch using Java.
As expected, you'll be working closely with the Developers and other members of the technical team to understand the needs and build the testing function from there. On the odd occasion you might need to interact with clients, so strong communications skills are a must!
You'll have most of the following skills/experience:
**Agile and Waterfall experience
**Some experience working as a solo Tester
**Automation testing experience - creating a test framework from scratch
**Java and Selenium for automation testing
**Good manual and exploratory experience (this is not solely an automation role!)
**Developing documentation and best practices within the testing function
**Web-based applications testing
**Knowledge of PowerShell in deployment setting (Windows Server)
Nice to haves:
**Automation testing against React applications
**Mobile testing, non-functional testing, security testing
Long term, there are a lot of different directions in which to go with the company - you could grow the team and start to coach more folk, or you could focus on a more niche area of testing like security or performance testing, or move into a Product Owner role if you fancy.
On top of that, the company are owned by a larger organisation, and it's not unknown for people to move to different companies under the larger organisation and so there is plenty of opportunity to progress into new areas that way!
Salary & other info:
The salary for this role is competitive (please reach out for more info), and the benefits include the usual, plus training budgets (allowing you to learn more!), conferences you can attend, as well as flexible working. What this means, is that if you are only looking to work four day a week, or do compressed hours etc. please do still apply, as this can be considered!
Right now they are working from home (as everyone pretty much is!) and long-term would like folk in maybe a couple days a week in their Glasgow City Centre office.
