IT Security Analyst
IT Security Analyst required to join a Public Sector Organisation in Edinburgh on a 6 month contract with a high possibly of extensions. The role falls outside of IR35.
You will have previous experience of working in a mature IT Security function and be able to bring that experience to bear in both helping to deliver the roadmap, as well as mentoring junior members of the team as they grow into their roles within the function.
The main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
** Monitor for, and respond to, security incidents
** Undertake threat assessments using various threat feeds
** Undertake regular vulnerability scanning and triage
** Contribute to documentation (Operational security standards, patterns, processes, playbooks)
** Assist in the delivery of key items on the IT Security Roadmap including:
- Security Monitoring (including SIEM)
- IPS Monitoring
- Vulnerability and Compliance scanning services
- Monitoring of both AWS and Azure M365
You will be expected to have relevant experience and working knowledge in the following areas:
** Application of security controls in line with standards such as ISO27001 / PCI DSS, CIS Top 20 etc.
** Vulnerability Management
** Security Monitoring and Investigations
** Intrusion Detection Systems
** Standards Creation
You will also be expected to have experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
** Knowledge and experience conducting forensic analysis to identify indicators of compromise
** Experience with network analysis tools and the ability to conduct packet capture analysis
** Excellent understanding of network principles (TCP/IP, DNS etc.) and Internet Protocols (HTTP, SMTP etc.)
** Ability to triage vulnerability criticalities in line with implemented security controls and / or known plausible threats observed in relevant threat feeds
** Knowledge of threat modelling techniques and threat analysis
