Test Lead needed for an organisation based in the city centre of Edinburgh. Ideal for someone with prior experience managing or leading a team, looking to move up into a more strategy-focused, hands-off role.

The Role:

Split across two teams, you'll be a hands-off Test Lead. You'll be self-sufficient and able to juggle the different teams, knowing when to prioritise each team. The split is most likely to be 50/50 and each team focuses on a different project.

Working across two teams means you can have 'a finger in every pie' - and expand your knowledge of managing various teams, with different sizes, with different focuses, with different testing techniques, aims and outcomes.

One team is fairly self-sufficient, and has three testers on board. They know what they are doing and just need someone on board to oversee the work, sign-off on estimates, help adjust the strategy and point them in the right direction when needed.

The second team are a new team on a new project, and it's a chance to really be able to shape the team and actively affect the project positively. A slightly larger team (around six or so), they'll need someone to set up the test function, the testing strategy, allocate tests and help with test plans. It's a great opportunity to take autonomy for the testing processes and some of the testing strategy that will actively affect the outcome of some of the major changes coming within the company.

The company works in an Agile way, and allow for the flexibility to adjust working processes to whatever way works best for the team. You'll be a massive part of working with the team to help define this.

You:

You'll have previous test lead or test manager experience, and will be keen to develop this by moving into a more hands-off role. Ideally you'll have knowledge of automation testing - whether practically or theoretically and will be keen to apply this knowledge to create more efficient testing processes.

You'll have confidently handled a team of testers before (and maybe some remote testers too) and developing testing strategies will be a passion of yours. Having a keen analytical eye that's able to zone in on specifics aspects of testing, but also retain a good understanding of the big picture, and how everything slots together is imperative.

Personality-wise you're a confident communicator who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You won't shy away from working with developers, or communicating with stakeholders as this is a key part of the role, and you'll be happy to suggest better ways of testing, or how to improve the testing process.

This role will be ideal for someone who has prior experience leading a team, and is keen to develop their skillset and begin the transition to a more Test Manager like role.
