Network and Communications Engineer - Cisco Environment - Long Assignment

Network Engineer required to join our client in Glasgow City Centre. This will be for an initial 6 months, with a very high chance of extension.

You will have overall responsibility for the support, implementation, operation, and administration of Cisco technologies for the Enterprise. You will have demonstrable experience supporting medium / large network infrastructure and be adept to network implementation within Enterprise environments.

You will ensure the optimisation of network services, processes and components. You will be expected to deal with routine situations, incidents and problems. The ideal candidate will be forward thinking, capable of working independently as well as in a very skilled team. As a result, you must demonstrate in depth technical knowledge of Networking, Communications and Security technologies.

Key Responsibilities


** Design, configuration and support of EIGRP / RIP / BGP / OSPF

** WAN: Cisco 800 / 1800 / 1900/ 2800 / 3800 Routers


** Design, configuration and support of VLAN / HSRP / STP, vPC

** Configuration and deployment of LAN & WAN incorporating Cisco 500 / 2900 / 3500 / 3600 / 3700 Switches

** Administration of Nexus 7K / Nexus 5K

Unified Communications

** Design and configuration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager 10.5x, Unified Contact Centre Express 10.5x / Cisco IP phones

** Knowledge of call signalling protocols: H.323, MGCP, SIP and SCCP

** MGCP & SIP Voice Gateways

Network Security

** Solid experience of IPsec, SSL, 802.1x, LEAP, EAP−TLS, EAP−TTLS, Radius & TACACs + protocols

** Administration and Support of Cisco ISE

** Administration and Support of Cisco ASA NGFWs and NGIPS

** Configuration of IPSEC, Cisco SSL & Cisco Any Connect VPNs

Network Management Skills

** Cisco Prime Infrastructure and SolarWinds NMS Troubleshooting

** Troubleshooting of Wireshark & NetFlow

** Detection of network intrusion attempts using Cisco 5545s Fire Power Module

Unified Wireless Systems

** Design, configuration and support for Cisco WLC 5508

** Administration, deployment of Cisco 3602i & 3802 Wireless Access Points and 897VW ISRs


** Support for ISDN, SIP, ADSL, PSTN, Leased Line, Frame Relay, ATM, National Ethernet, Metro Ethernet

As well as the technical skills, it is important that you are a self-starter and confident in your own ability - taking ownership and responsibility for tasks within projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a large Enterprise environment on a long-term basis, taking you over the Christmas period and well into 2019.
