Data Scientist required to join a brand-new team in the heart of Edinburgh for a fast growing fintech organisation.

The Role:

You will be working very closely with the CIO and the Head of Business Intelligence to build out the data analytics function and in time, will be a key figure in mentoring more junior members of the team (which you'll help grow).

As this is an early foray into the world of data science, there will be an element of R&D to this role, where you will be able to work on a few proof of concepts in order to show various stakeholders the potential of data science to the business. Presenting your findings and explaining what is possible is going to be a real key part of this role.

The company already have a plethora of data due to the business area they are focused on, meaning you will have loads to get your teeth into from the off.

You:

You'll have demonstrable experience working as a Data Scientist, ideally in a similar environment, where perhaps you've set up a function or are keen to really make something your own.

You'll have a wide technical knowledge and be able to choose the best tool for the job - obviously as the first Data Scientist in the business, you'll be able to choose the tools you feel will work for the business, which is a rare opportunity.

A natural communicator, you will be comfortable talking to other technical people, non-technical stakeholders who have no clue about data science and of course, the senior management team who are invested in this area.

Technical Experience:

Ideally, you'll have a mixture of most of the following areas:

** Python / R programming skills

** Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Predictive Analytics / Statistical Modelling / Data Mining / NLP

** Relational Databases - SQL / NoSQL /

** MSc / PhD in a highly numerical subject e.g. - Physics / Data Science / Computer Science / Neuroscience / Mathematics / Statistics / Chemistry

Salary:

The salary on offer for this role is £40-55k depending on experience and they also offer a really competitive benefits package, which includes a generous pension, private medical, generous training allowance, bonus scheme, 33 days holiday and top of the range kit.
