Server revenue and unit sales increase for first time since 2011
Computer Weekly have recently announced some good news for the global server market.
In the second quarter of 2014 the number of servers shipped increased by 0.8%, which although might not sound impressive, is the first quarterly increase for 11 quarters. This follows the second consecutive quarterly increase of server sales revenue to £3.2 billion, representing a 3.8% year-on-year increase.
The top three server suppliers? Not surprisingly:
1. HP (34.7% market share)- 7.3% year-on-year growth
2. IBM - 14.95% year-on-year reduction
3. Dell - 13.5% year-on-year growth
